On the day
- The steam boiler is drained and inspected internally with an endoscope for scale, corrosion and weld condition.
- The safety valve, anti-vac valve and fittings are checked and tested.
- The pressure gauge is verified against our calibrated test gauge, not against itself.
- A 2 group single boiler is one drain and one refill, comfortably inside the standard appointment window.
- The Written Scheme of Examination names the vessel and the protective devices it covers.

What we see on this model
- 10.4 litre horizontal boiler at a 2.0 bar design rating — a conventional vessel, so the internal inspection is straightforward once drained.
- Legend reissues vary in how faithfully they follow the original spec. The data plate, not the brochure, is what the Written Scheme should record.
- E61-style thermosyphon group, HX boiler, automatic boiler fill, internal volumetric pump, two pressure gauges. Still a current model and well supported; the traps on this machine are valve-part length and the non-replaceable brew-valve seat, not electronics. No Faema fault table exists publicly for it - everything above comes from documented strip-downs on real 2001/2008 Legend 2-group machines.

Owners usually call us with a symptom, not a diagnosis. This is what that symptom most often turns out to be on this machine, and what putting it right involves.
